I have only heard of a few and though I do not think he was a general. From the books I’ve read I would have to say Vercingetorix. Though his sack of Rome was unsuccessful and he was made an example of and executed by Julius Caesar (After five years of imprisonment if I recall). I see him in my minds eye as something of a man like myself. Though perhaps with much more charisma and patience. After all, it is not my place to unite and recruite but to destroy.
